A FREESPOT area provides free and open access via Wireless networking to the Internet. As the chair of the FREESPOT Council, Buffalo is promoting diffusion and expansion of this service. In addition, beginning with solar airship Internet communication testing at the Aichi Expo and by participating in disaster preparedness drills in Nagoya city in 2005 as well as other events, the Melco Group has accumulated experience in communication infrastructure testing during times of natural disasters. When an earthquake hit the Noto peninsula in March 2007, the Group through the cooperation of local volunteers was able to provide FREESPOT introduction kits in three locations as one component of the communication infrastructure in the earthquake-stricken area.
